1 Timothy 6:1-2

In 1 Timothy 6:1–2 the Apostle gives instructions for bondservants and their masters. This could be related today by stating the relationship between employees and their employers. The bondservant/employee should give proper respect to their employer as they are in a position of authority and leadership. The master/employer should treat their bondservants/employees with respect as well. All this is directed to the brethren in Christ as is to be obedient to His teachings.

This is a command for employers and employees to treat one another with proper respect as followers of Jesus.

The Apostle Paul declares in Colossians 3:22–25 (NKJV), “Bondservants, obey in all things your masters according to the flesh, not with eyeservice, as men-pleasers, but in sincerity of heart, fearing God. And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ. But he who does wrong will be repaid for what he has done, and there is no partiality.” He continues in Colossians 4:1, “Masters, give your bondservants what is just and fair, knowing that you also have a Master in heaven.”

Our relationship and reflection of Christ Jesus in our lives does not exist only in the church, it should be our reflection of Jesus throughout our daily walk in whatever we do for a living. We should always strive to reflect Christ Jesus in our lives no matter what our employment status, be it an employer or an employee.

Dear LORD,

Please help us to carry our relationship and reflection of Jesus with us throughout the work week. Please prompt us to always be aware that we are the reflection of Jesus in the world today through Your Holy Spirit working in our lives. And please help us to always be aware that Jesus is right there with us every step of the way. In Jesus name I pray, amen.
