Colossians 2:1-5
Paul wants the congregation of the church at Colosse to know that he is deeply concerned for them and that he prays for them and others earnestly, and he wants them to truly understand the knowledge of the mystery of God and of Christ. It is in this that they will find true wisdom and knowledge. Even though Paul is not physically with them, he encourages them by letting them know that he is with them in spirit. This is all so they may have a proper relationship with Christ, in which we all should rejoice.
This is an example of showing love and concern for one another.
This is a command to not be deceived.
This is a promise, “that their hearts may be encouraged, being knit together in love, and attaining to all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the knowledge of the mystery of God, both of the Father and of Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge” (Colossians 2:2–3, NKJV) for the congregation of the church at Colosse and for us today – In Christ.
After the Apostle Paul was blinded on the road to Damascus (Acts 9), he spent 3 days praying, I believe, in a room alone but in the presence of God. I believe that at this time his heart was encouraged, being knit together in love, and attaining to all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the knowledge of the mystery of God, both of the Father and of Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge” as he speaks of in Colossians 2:2–3). It then became his mission to share the gospel that had been revealed to him to the rest of the world. Through the power of God and His Word, he continues to share the gospel throughout the world today.
Dear LORD,
I pray today for all our Christian brothers and sisters at home and around the world, that we would be encouraging to one another, that our hearts may be knit together in love, and that God will give us all understanding to the treasures of His wisdom and knowledge, and that You would give us the same passion to share the gospel of Christ Jesus as You did through the Apostle Paul. Please let it be so LORD. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.
