Matthew 27:11-14

Jesus has been taken to stand before the Roman governor Pilate as he is the only authority that can pronounce the death penalty.  The chief priests and elders plead their case against Jesus, and then Pilate questioned Jesus as to His response to the accusations against Him, but He answered nothing (Matthew 27:12).

Jesus never pleaded His innocence because this is what He came to do; to die for the sins of the world.  John 3:17 (NIV) states, “For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.”  The Bible teaches us in 1 Timothy 1:15-16, “Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners – of whom I am the worst.  But for that very reason I was shown mercy so that in me, the worst of sinners, Christ Jesus might display his immense patience as an example for those who would believe in him and receive eternal life.”  If Jesus had pleaded His innocence, He may very well have been very convincing to Pilate and he may have set Jesus free, leaving the world lost in sin.  Jesus came to be the Savior of the world, and dying in His innocence was the only way to salvation for you and me.

This is the example that God has given us to show us His great love for us – that He would take our place and die for us so that we may be redeemed from sin.

God has promised us that if we will believe in Jesus; that He came to us and lowered Himself to the position of a man so that He could save us, He will give us eternal life through Him.  The things of this world are temporary – a test if you will to choose; to choose between life and death.  Here on earth, the physical life is temporary and death is sure to come, but this is only the beginning of eternity for us in life spiritually or death spiritually.  Satan tempts us with the things of this world that cannot be taken with us when we die, so have you ever given thought to why this is?  It is because God loves us so much in proving to Satan that He is ever more powerful than Satan, He allows us to choose between Himself or Satan, proving that as Satan is always bombarding us with temptations, God’s patient love is more powerful; who will you choose to follow? Jesus is waiting with open arms to hug His Holy Spirit into you and begin a new relationship with you in love that last forever.  You just have to come to Him and embrace His hug.

Dear LORD,

Jesus is our Savior; the Savior of the world.  He has never turned anyone away and always forgives those who come to Him in repentance.  His first words of ministry as recorded in Matthew 4:17 “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near.”  Thank You Jesus; Thank You LORD.  In Jesus name I pray, amen.
