Romans 16:3-16

The Apostle Paul teaches us in Romans 12:4-5 (NKJV), “For as we have many members in one body, but all the members do not have the same function, so we, being many, are one body in Christ, and individually members of one another.”  As Paul is coming to the end of his letter to the Church at Rome, he commends numerous “members” or people that have been a great help to him in ministry, that those at the Church at Rome would also benefit from them and be ready to receive them as members of the same body in Christ.

This is an example of the way we should receive one another in Christ Jesus.

This is a promise that God’s plan for our lives includes many others that will be to the benefit of our growth in Christ Jesus.

You may be a deacon, Sunday School teacher, usher, greeter, or serve in one of the many other positions in your local church.  As you most likely know, the pastor/priest cannot perform all the duties of the Church on their own, but need support from others to reach all the venues that make up the Church.  I commend you all for your dedication to God in being an active part of the Church body in Christ Jesus.  It takes us all to truly be the body of the Church, and if you feel that you are unworthy to fill such a role, I promise you that God made you for just such a purpose, and I encourage you to speak to someone at your Church as there is always an opening where God would have you to be an active part of the body of Christ Jesus.

Dear LORD,

You have created us all with a purpose to bring glory to You through our lives.  We may not know just what specific role You have for us but I ask that You speak to our hearts to lead us to the calling You have for each of us – in Christ.  In Jesus name I pray, amen.
