Romans 8:35-36

As we have been breaking down this passage of Romans 8:31-39 verse by verse, Paul asks an additional question in Romans 8:35 (NKJV) declaring, “Who shall separate us from the love of Christ?  Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?”  Paul’s point here is not that we are so dedicated to God in our faith to Him, but that He is so faithful to us that nothing can separate His love from all who put their faith in Him.  Even when we falter in our walk with Him, He is always faithful to us and anxiously awaits our return to Him in asking His forgiveness.  Nothing can separate us from the love of God.

This is an example and promise of God’s great forgiving love for us.

Even as Christians in seeking God’s will for our lives, we are still yet human and prone to sin and the trickery of Satan.  We are not perfect and we will stumble from time to time in our walk with the Lord.  But His great love for us is perfect and never fails.  When we stumble to the trickery of Satan, God is faithful and will forgive all who come to Him with a sincere heart – in Christ.

Dear LORD,

In the last verse of the gospel of Matthew, Jesus tells His disciples, “…and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”  And in John 13:18 Jesus declares, “I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you.”  Thank You for always being there waiting for us to return to You when we stumble to the trickery of Satan that we may be forgiven and renewed in our relationship with You through our Savior Christ Jesus.  In Jesus name I pray, amen.
