Luke 22:7-13

God gave the regulations for the Passover and the Feast of Unleavened Bread to Moses in Exodus 11-13 as He began to bring the Israelites out of the land of Egypt. Jesus is now preparing to celebrate the Passover with His disciples as He prepares to fulfill the role as the Passover Lamb that will set all man free from sin when His blood is shed on the cross the following day. Jesus gives two of His disciples, Peter and John, directions as to where they are to prepare the Passover. As they arrived in the city, they found things to be just as Jesus had told them, and they prepared the Passover.

This is a command to follow Jesus.

This is a promise that it will be just as Jesus says.

This is an example of obedience to Jesus.

As Jesus sends His disciples to prepare the Passover, we must prepare our minds, hearts, and souls to receive the gift that Jesus gave in fulfilling the role of the sinless Lamb that was sacrificed to pay the price to death for our sins. In fulfilling this sacrificial role and overcoming sin, death, and Satan, Jesus offers us the forgiveness of our sins that we may be redeemed back to a right standing with our Creator God and live with Him in heaven for eternity in His glory.

Dear Lord,

As we begin these next few days in study of the Passover Feast and the events of the cross, please help us to prepare our hearts as we would in the taking of communion in remembrance of what Jesus has done for us, that we would grow in our relationship with You and be more and more to the praise of Your glory. In Jesus name I pray, amen.
