Ephesians 3:14-19
Ephesians3:14-21 is a prayer. In this prayer Paul first gives reverence to God, and then prays that God will give us strength through His Spirit who lives in us. He prays that Christ Jesus would live in our hearts through our faith in Him, and that we would be rooted and grounded in love. The Bible teaches us in 1 John 4:8 that God is love. Knowing this, we can then understand that the Apostle Paul is teaching us to be rooted and grounded in God through our faith in our Savior Jesus Christ. Paul goes on in Ephesians 3:18–19 to pray that we would comprehend the love of Christ, which is greater than knowledge, and that we may be filled with all the fullness of God.
This is an example of a good prayer that would strengthen us all if we were to pray it each day.
This is a promise of what we should look for in our relationship with Christ Jesus.
We all should always strive to be rooted and grounded in the love of Christ. Sometimes our circumstances lead us to believe that God is not with us or that God does not care for us, but God did not promise to take us out of our circumstances but that He would be with us and guide us through them if we will keep our faith in Him. Romans 5:1–5 (NKJV) declares, “Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; and perseverance, character; and character, hope. Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.”
Dear Lord,
Please give us strength through Your Holy Spirit who lives in us that we would put our trust and faith in You Lord. Open our hearts and minds to You Lord that we may comprehend the love of Christ and be filled with all the fullness of God—that our strength would be rooted and grounded in You LORD. In Jesus name I pray, amen.
