Luke 12:54-56

Jesus turns His attention from speaking with His disciples to speaking to the large crowd that had gathered. He makes note of how the people have learned to read the sky and determine the weather for the day and yet calls them hypocrites for ignoring the signs of the coming Messiah and not recognizing Him as the Messiah.

This is an example of how Satan can blind us to Jesus through the sinful nature of this world.

Satan knows what he is doing. He is a master of deception and the author of it (John 8:42-47). If he can keep us wrapped up in the worries and trials of this world, he will succeed in keeping us away from noticing that Jesus is calling us to put our trust in Him. Satan wants us to feel as if our troubles and sins are too much for God to redeem and therefore there is no hope for us to find salvation in Christ Jesus. But that is a lie! We cannot defeat or overcome Satan on our own, but salvation is found in Jesus; He was sent to save the world from sin. We learn this immediately after the most popular verse in the Bible; John 3:16 teaches us that God sent His one and only Son that whoever believes in Him will have eternal life. John 3:17 teaches us that Jesus was sent to save the world from sin. Satan is lies and deception (John 8:42-47); Jesus is truth and life (John 14:6). Choose life, choose Jesus.

Dear Lord,

Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life as You have taught us in John 14:6. Satan does not want us to know that, and he will try everything he can to keep us away from You and salvation in Your one and only Son Jesus, who You sent to save the world from sin (John 3:16-17). Please help us to have the strength and courage to put our trust and faith in Jesus to break the grasp of the sinful nature of this world and put on a new life in Christ Jesus, our Lord and Savior. In Jesus name I pray, amen.
