Titus 3:1
Titus 3:1–7 consists of one piece of advice or instruction that the Apostle Paul gives to Titus, that he should pass it on to those of the Church the things “which are proper for sound doctrine” (Titus 2:1, NKJV). We will break it down verse by verse and look at Titus 3:1 today.
The first word Paul uses in Titus 3:1 is to “Remind” and is something that we should always be doing for each other in Christ; to remind each other of the qualities and ways in which we should be living as we are the current representatives of Jesus in the world today. We must be reminded that we have those appointed over us in authority; that we should respectfully be ready for every good work in which God has placed us geographically and purposefully (Titus 3:1). The Apostle Peter declared in 1 Peter 3:15, “But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you,”.
This is a command to always be ready for every good work that God calls us to as representatives of Jesus Christ working through us in the world today.
We all have a purpose in this world for Christ Jesus – that we may reflect Him through His Holy Spirit working in our lives. It may seem small that God would use us personally, but sometimes, through the little things is the spark that ignites great things. God is a miraculous God who can and does work wonderful things through simple things like greeting others with a smile and passing along blessings with our kind words and helpful hands which shows others that we care about them. Sometimes that is all someone needs; is to know that someone cares about them. God does wonders through our obedience to His authority over our lives – we simply must follow His lead.
Dear LORD,
We may feel inferior to the calling of being Your representatives in the world today as if that is for others who are better Christians than we are. The truth is that we are all one in Christ Jesus; we are all Your representatives to those in which we come in contact each day in person and through the communication of technology that allows us to speak to others around the world. Please encourage our hearts, minds, and souls to be the Christians that make a difference for Christ each day. In Jesus name I pray, amen.
