Titus 2:11–14

The Apostle Paul has been speaking of different people-groups and the conduct becoming of a Christian. He spoke of the older men and women along with the younger women (Titus 2:1–5), the younger men (Titus 2:6–8), the relationships becoming a Christian in the workplace (Titus 2:9–10), and even the insubordinate and disobedient (Titus 1:10–16). He ties all of this together in Titus 2:11–14 (NKJV) declaring, “11For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, 12teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age, 13looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, 14who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works.”

This is a promise that salvation by God’s grace through Christ Jesus is for all people.

God sent His One and only Son Jesus to save His chosen people Israel and everyone who would profess Him as the One and only true God. When God saved His chosen people Israel from the captivity of the Egyptians (Exodus 12:48–49) He also included, as He gave instructions to them for the stranger/foreigner who makes for himself the decision to follow the LORD, the stranger and the native-born to be as one people. The Bible teaches us in John 1:10–13 that Jesus came to save His own people but would receive anyone who would believe in Him and follow His will for them. Jesus healed and saved the demon-possessed (Mark 1:21–28), the physically unclean, who were considered outcasts (Mark 1:40–45), the disabled (Mark 2:1–12), and many others that are recorded in the Bible for our sake (John 20:30–31). God created us all and intends to save us all from sin if we will receive Him and believe in Him (Romans 10:9–10).

Dear LORD,

We may feel as if we are outcasts or that we are not worthy of Your saving grace, but the truth in Christ Jesus is that none of us are worthy of Your great love, but Your grace and mercy extend to all who will believe in You and make the commitment to put You first in our lives and follow Your will for our lives. Please open our eyes, ears, minds, and hearts to receive the gift You have for us all – In Christ. In Jesus name I pray, amen.
