Romans 9:20-21

As the Apostle Paul raises questions in which many of us would ask of God while studying this letter to the Church at Rome, he brings us to a point of our reality as being subject to God and of His supremacy over us.  Paul shows us just how small we are in the eyes of God by the disrespect we show to God in questioning anything He may or may not do in our lives.  Paul uses an example of a potter and the clay in which he forms whatever he would like out of the lump of clay.  Does the lump of clay have any authority to question what the potter forms it to be, whether desirable or not desirable?  In the same way, we are God’s creation and we have not the right to question why God has created us in the fashion that He did, but to take what God has given us and use that to bring Him glory.

This is a promise that God has created us all for a purpose.

This is a promise that we should put our will aside and seek God’s will for our lives.

We all have things in which we would like to change about our lives.  Sometimes God has made us in ways that we need to change as it builds our relationship with Him by putting our trust in Him to help us make the needed changes in our lives.  Other times God has made us in ways that we may desire to change, but cannot as some things are out of our control; but God uses us all in ways that we may never see or be aware of in touching the lives of those around us.

My younger brother has a rare kidney disease that he has dealt with for his entire life and is now in his forties.  God knows the amount of prayers that have been given for his healing, yet through his struggles in this physical life God has touched the lives of many others that have come into his path.  God only knows how many people have been encouraged and drawn to Him through the strength and determination of one who has put their faith in God to help them through the trials and tribulations in this sinful world.  God uses us in mysterious ways, and we may not always like that; but we are to strive to bring glory to God in whatever form and fashion He has given us.  As the old hymn declares, “To God be the glory for the great things He hath done.”

Dear LORD,

We struggle in whatever form You have created us to be, but please help us to see that whatever we look like or whatever condition we are in, that You have created us to bring glory to You through our lives.  Please lead us to Christ Jesus that we would seek Your forgiveness through Him and seek Your will for our lives that we may truly be a blessing to You and to those around us.  In Jesus name I pray, amen.
