Romans 8:31

As we reflect over the things in which the Apostle Paul has been teaching us in the letter to the Church at Rome, he brings us to a question that challenges us to comprehend the greatness of our God and of His love for us.  Paul asks us in Romans 8:31 (NKJV), “What then shall we say to these things?  If God is for us, who can be against us?”  The only right and proper answer to this question is…no one.  There is none who is greater or more powerful than the Almighty God of heaven who created this world and everything and everyone in it.  If He is for us, who then can be against us? as the Apostle Paul proclaims in Romans 8:31.

This is a promise and example of the massive amount of confidence that we can and should have in our salvation through Christ Jesus our Lord and Savior.

The Apostle Paul gives us much confidence in our LORD God in heaven through putting our faith in His Son – our Savior Christ Jesus.  In Romans 8:1 he proclaims, “There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.”  And in Romans 8:11 (HCSB), Paul tells us, “And if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead lives in you, then He who raised Christ from the dead will also bring your mortal bodies to life through His Spirit who lives in you.”  And in Romans 8:28 (NIV) Paul states, “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”  So I ask you today with all confidence in God through our Savior Jesus, as the Apostle Paul declares in Romans 8:31 (NKJV), “What then shall we say to these things?  If God is for us, who can be against us?”

Dear LORD,

You are Almighty God.  You alone are all powerful, all knowing, and all present.  You are for us as we put our faith in Your Son Jesus who You sent into this world to save us from sin, death, and Satan.  Please fill our hearts, minds, and souls with the confidence of our salvation in Christ Jesus as we strive to live for You – in Christ.  In Jesus name I pray, amen.
