Romans 8:26-27

In Romans 8:26-27 the Apostle Paul continues teaching us about the role of God’s Holy Spirit in our lives – the lives of those who have put their faith in Christ Jesus.  Paul teaches us that in our prayers, or in our unknowing of what or how we should pray, that God’s Holy Spirit working within us as our guide to life intercedes for us in the sincerity of our hearts to God, that as we pray, God’s Holy Spirit cries out to God for us in a way in which we cannot explain but is connected to God for us in “groanings” that are specific to God.  But we must also realize and understand what is stated in Romans 8:27 (NKJV), “Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God.”

This is a promise of God’s Holy Spirit working in the lives of all who put their faith in Christ Jesus.

God’s Holy Spirit is given to us who put our faith in Christ Jesus and profess Him our Lord and Savior.  John 14:26 (ESV) states, “But he Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.”  As we learn in Romans 8:26 that God’s Holy Spirit cries out for us in our prayers to God, we must also know understand that in God’s Holy Spirit crying out for us, God’s Holy Spirit only works according to God’s will for our lives.  It is not according to our will, but the will of God that He leads us, guides us, and answers our prayers.

Dear LORD,

Thank You for giving us Your Holy Spirit to guide us throughout this physical life on earth and to cry out to You for us in our prayers that, in Your will for our lives is what we should seek.  Please help us to seek Your will for our lives LORD.  In Jesus name I pray, amen.
