Romans 5:4b-5

Through character, Paul tells us, hope is developed.  But hope must have a subject to address; as Christians our hope is in the LORD.  The Apostle Paul tells us in Romans 5:2b NKJV, “and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.”  We stand through our faith in Jesus, and He gives us access to His grace to strengthen us to stand in the face of tribulations that produces perseverance and develops our character in Christ.  In this is hope in the glory of God (Romans 5:2b) that through His Holy Spirit living within us is the passion and desire to be in God’s glory for all eternity, when everything will be made right as we leave this physical world that is full of sin and enter into spiritual eternity in heaven which will be in the purity of Christ Jesus who provided the way for us through His death, burial, and resurrection.  Romans 5:5 states, “Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.

This is a promise of hope in the solid rock of our foundation – Christ Jesus.

In these first five verses of chapter 5 of Paul’s letter to the church at Rome are some things such as tribulations that are not very attractive to us.  But as we put the passage all together we learn of how important these things are to our relationship with our Savior Jesus as we are to be a reflection of Him in our own daily walks in this world.  We are seeing how God works through these things to bring us closer to Him and to look forward through the guidance of His Holy Spirit living within us to His everlasting glory which He has provided for us through His grace to us and our faith in Him.  The walk in Christ is not easy, but the blessings in which He gives us for standing tall in the face of tribulations by seeking His guidance to help us through them are worth more than all the gold in this world.  Thank You Jesus!

Dear LORD,

You tell us through the prophet Isaiah 55:9, “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways, And My thoughts than your thoughts.”  Please give us the faith to stand tall in Christ Jesus to be a reflection of Your ways to all those around us and throughout this world so that You will be glorified through us.  In Jesus name I pray, amen.
