Romans 3:7-8

The question is asked in Romans 3:7-8a (NKJV) of “For if the truth of God has increased through my lie to His glory, why am I also still judged as a sinner?  And why not say, “Let us do evil that good may come”?  But in asking this question also arises the question of, “if we sin purposely, what is the difference between that and the sinful nature that causes us to sin to start with?”  The answer is that any willful sin is sin and in being so is subject to condemnation (Romans 6:23a).  The will of the heart must be sincerely seeking the purity of Jesus as the old life of the sinful nature has been “put off” as Paul declares in Romans 6:10-11 (ESV), “For the death he died he died to sin, once for all, but the life he lives he lives to God.  So you also must consider yourselves dead to sin and alive to God in Christ Jesus.”  The Apostle Paul states his conclusion to the actions of those who live in sin with this false means to sin in Romans 3:8c (NIV), “Their condemnation is just!”

This is a command, example, and promise that sin has no place in the life of one striving to please God through salvation in Christ Jesus.

We must also understand that we live in a sinful world and for us to live a sinless life is impossible, but that is why God sent Jesus – to pay the price for all sin which is death – and through His death and resurrection is true life in Him – that we may be forgiven from our sins as we strive to not sin in seeking to bring glory to God through our lives – in Christ.

Dear LORD,

The life that You intended for us from creation is a life that is free from sin.  But Satan, being stronger willed than any man or woman caused sin to enter this world through Adam and Eve (Genesis 1-3).  But You sent Your one and only Son to defeat sin in paying the price for sin through His perfect life and undeserving death and most righteous resurrection from the grave, which proves Jesus is able to overcome the wiles of the devil and will help us to live lives of forgiveness if we will put our trust and faith in Him as our Savior.  Please help us to understand that true life eternal is only possible through our salvation in Christ Jesus that You would lead us all to Him.  In Jesus name I pray, amen.
