Romans 3:5-6

The Israelites are God’s chosen people to demonstrate His righteousness to the whole world so that everyone everywhere would become aware of the one true Almighty God of heaven.  In a false sense of security in being God’s chose people, many of the Israelites began to believe that even in their sins they were righteous because God used their sinful ways to show His Almighty power and Godhead.  They believed that in being a part of God’s revelation to the world that God could not judge them as it would be wrong to punish someone for being a part of the plan regardless of the sinfulness that was involved in the lives of the Israelites.  This however is an incorrect way of thinking/believing as sin is sin and all of humanity is sinful and in need of forgiveness and subject to God’s eternal judgment (Romans 2).  The question that Paul confronts in Romans 3:5-6 is of God being unjust for judging the Jews/Israelites for being a part of God’s plan of salvation for all of humanity?  The Apostle Paul answers this question in Romans 3:6 (NKJV) by stating, “Certainly not!  For then how will God judge the world?”

This is a promise that everyone is subject to the judgment of God.

For the Jews/Israelites to believe that they are above the judgment of God shows arrogance, self-centeredness, and pride; these are the ways of the devil and are not part of the proper attitude we should reflect in our humility to our Almighty God and Creator in our obedience to Him.  It is only through salvation in Christ Jesus by God’s grace to us that we are justified – not by anything that we did to earn God’s forgiveness, but that He provided salvation for us through His one and only Son Jesus who died to pay the price for our sins which is death.  But He also, in His purity, was raised from the dead as sin and death have no power of purity, which Jesus displayed in His sinless life; that’s why He is justified as our Savior, and we are justified through our faith in Him and believing in that He paid for our sins on the cross.  Put your faith in Jesus today if you have never done so and be saved in Christ Jesus as there is no other way to eternal life in heaven (John 14:6).

Dear LORD,

We stand in awe of Your awesome power and majesty.  You are just and You are the eternal Judge of all humanity.  You alone are God and You have shown Your great love for us by sending Your one and only Son Jesus to pay the price for our sins and pave the never-ending road to heaven for all who will believe in Him.  Please open our eyes to this truth and bring conviction to our hearts that will result in salvation in Christ Jesus.  In Jesus name I pray, amen.
