Romans 15:14

The Apostle Paul has given encouragement and blessing in Romans 15:7-13, and now he makes the Church at Rome aware of his confidence in them to carry out the instructions in which he has been teaching them.  Paul states in Romans 15:14 (NKJV), “Now I myself am confident concerning you, my brethren, that you also are full of goodness, filled with all knowledge, able also to admonish one another.”

This is an example of the attitude we, as Christians, should exhibit toward one another.

The confidence that the Apostle Paul shows in the people that make up the Church at Rome is the same attitude that we can and should exhibit today to one another in Christ Jesus.  To be full of goodness to one another is an attitude that should be automatic for us all through the new life that we now strive to live as Christians.  We are to shun the hateful ways of the sinful nature and cling to one another in goodness.

To be filled with all knowledge only comes through opening our Bibles and reading them; but more than that we cannot simply just read the words, we must open our hearts, minds, and souls to what God is teaching us through His word that we may apply these lessons to our lives to bring Him glory.  We must take the time in our busy schedules to “study” God’s word.  That’s why I try to make these lessons short, because I know that your time is precious to you in this busy hustle and bustle world that we live in.  But if you will make time each day to “study” God’s word, He will bless you for it by growing you in the relationship you have with Him and others around you.  You will grow in the knowledge of Christ Jesus and the new life in Him that you should be living now to reflect Him through your life, “able also to admonish one another” (Romans 15:14d).

Dear LORD,

We need Your help to find the time in which we can not just read Your word but that we would study your word that we would grow in our relationship with You and our fellow Christians.  We want to be a reflection of You to all those around us, but to do so we need to be open to Your guidance through Your Holy Spirit working in our lives.  Please help us to do so LORD that we would bring glory to You through our lives – in Christ.  In Jesus name I pray, amen.
