Romans 11:33

As the Apostle Paul teaches us about God’s great plan of salvation for all people, he is overtaken by the awe and splendor of God.  He pauses in celebration of a heart-felt love that God has allowed him to understand – he “gets it.”  Paul contemplates the vast goodness of God in His love for His prize creation – mankind.  Paul’s teaching and preaching that he was given through his glorious conversion on the road to Damascus (Acts 9), and through the three days he spent – blind and alone in a quiet room in Damascus on Straight street while God poured His knowledge into Paul’s heart of the way, the truth, and the life that is found in opening one’s heart to Christ Jesus reaches a moment of climax for Paul, and he burst into joyous celebration of the love that he now feels through God’s Holy Spirit working within him.  He declares here in Romans 11:33 (NKJV), “Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God!  How unsearchable are His judgments and His ways past finding out!”

This is an example of the results of God’s Holy Spirit overwhelming one who has put their faith in Jesus.

This feeling of overwhelmed joy and celebration that God has put in the heart of the Apostle Paul is not only for Paul to experience, but that God is using Paul to show us that we too may be a part of the joy and celebration of God through salvation in Christ Jesus.  There is a point at which one must get in recognizing the awesome power and splendor of God; that He is so far above us in wisdom, knowledge, and His judgments.  But yet He reaches down from heaven to us in His great love for us and reveals His great plan of salvation for us, that we all may be brought back to a right state with Him through understanding that His will and plan for us is so much greater than we could ever imagine.  To understand that Jesus paid our price to sin by dying for us on the cross; to understand that Jesus was raised from the dead through the purity of God’s love for us and His overwhelming power over all creation; and to accept this in our hearts – is the greatest, most joyous, most overwhelming and exciting thing that we can experience as a human being.  Today is the day of salvation.  I pray that you too have opened your heart to Jesus, or that you will do so today, and celebrate the joyous love of God that He has for you – that we may all celebrate with Paul – in Christ!

Dear LORD,

Please help us to see that in this evil world we may take the time each day to celebrate our salvation in and through Christ Jesus as He has overcome the world and provides the way for us to live forgiven and joyous as Your children.  In Jesus name I pray, amen.
