Romans 10:5-13

If one lives by the Law given to Moses by God at Mount Sinai, they must live by the entirety of the Law following all its commands and regulations.  But living by faith in Christ Jesus gives us security in Christ Jesus as He has already accomplished that for us, as He also has been raised from the dead proving His holiness and victory over sin, death, and Satan.  The only thing that is needed now is to have faith in Him as the Savior of the world – He has accomplished in His sinless life, death, and resurrection the righteous requirement that fulfills the Law.  As Jesus proclaimed as He died on the cross in John 19:30 (NIV), “It is finished.”  Jesus spoke of fulfilling the Law in Matthew 5:17 as He declares, “Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets.  I did not come to destroy but to fulfill.  For assuredly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle will by no means pass from the law till all is fulfilled.”  We must keep in mind that when Jesus made this statement, He had not yet been crucified, nor had He been raised from the dead; He had not yet fulfilled the Law or the Prophets until His death, burial, and resurrection.  And in so doing does not make the Law obsolete but declares that what the Law has pointed to has arrived, and a new way of pertaining to it is now through salvation in Christ Jesus.

This is a promise of the righteous requirement of the Law being fulfilled through the sinless life of Christ Jesus and the sacrifice He made for all humanity.

The Old Testament points us to the insufficiencies of man because of sin and the need for Jesus (the Savior of the world, John 3:16-17) to bring forth the new way of heart-felt submission to God which is not through earning salvation but to believe in it – in Christ Jesus.

Dear LORD,

The Apostle Paul teaches us in this passage of Romans 10:9-10, “that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.  For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”  Please help us to realize and understand that it is through our belief in Jesus that He accomplished for us the requirements of the Law unto righteousness (Romans 3:21-26) that we may now be adopted into His righteousness by Your great love, mercy, and grace to us – in Christ.  In Jesus name I pray, amen.
