Revelation 8:8-9

The first angel sounded the trumpet and a third of the earth/land was destroyed (Revelation 8:7). Then the second angel sounds the trumpet and a third of the sea is destroyed. Revelation 8:9 declares, “9And a third of the living creatures in the sea died, and a third of the ships were destroyed.” As there was no indication of human life being destroyed with the sounding of the first trumpet, there is no indication of human life being destroyed with the sounding of the second trumpet, however, it a third of the ships were destroyed in the sea, then we could reasonably deduct that the people on those ships were destroyed as well. This would be the same for any people being in the forest when the trees were destroyed in Revelation 8:7.

This is the sounding of the second trumpet after the seventh seal has been removed from the scroll that the Lamb has taken from the hand of Him who sits on the throne of heaven.

After the removing of the seventh seal from the scroll that the Lamb has taken from the right hand of Him who sits on the throne of heaven, a third of the earth’s trees have been destroyed from the sounding of the first trumpet. After the sounding of the second trumpet, a third of the seas life and ships were destroyed. Is it not ironic that one-third of the earth’s population today is Christian? Is it possible that God will show the secular world what it will be like when He takes away the one-third that represents life. Trees give off oxygen for us to breathe, and our bodies are two-thirds water – the life that is in us is the other one-third. With all the grass gone, the earth will be laid bare before God our Creator.

Dear LORD,

You are painting a picture for us which is a call to repentance, that we would see Your great power and might. Our souls are laid bare before You in repentance as the earth will be laid bare before You in Your final judgment on it. Please lead this to a picture in all our hearts of salvation in Christ Jesus – the way, the truth, and the life (John 14:6). In Jesus name I pray, amen.
