Revelation 8:10-11

In Revelation 8:10 the third angel sounds the trumpet and a star, named Wormwood, fell from heaven and contaminated a third of the rivers and springs of the earth’s water. The name “Wormwood” is derived from the plant of the same name that has a bitter taste. In Revelation 8:11 we learn that many people died because of drinking this poisoned water.

This is the sounding of the third trumpet as a result of the opening of the seventh seal from the scroll that the Lamb has taken from the right hand of Him who sits on the throne of heaven.

In ancient times the water, or the need for clean water, was of vital importance to the survival of the people. They did not have water treatment plants that purify the water for drinking, they simply had to drink the water that was available. During wartime, if the water of the enemy could be contaminated, the victory was only a matter of time until the water supply ran out. Today, imagine if we had no water treatment plants to purify our water, or if we could not buy a bottle of purified water. How much of our sources for our drinking water are contaminated today? Could we survive without the technology that purifies our water? This is another of the signs of God’s wrath on the earth to come. We have seen these things taking place on the earth today in moderation through forest fires, shipwrecks, and our rivers and streams being polluted to the point of being called “Wormwood.” God is giving us signs of what is to come; are you ready? Jesus said to the woman at the well in John 4:10 (NKJV), “If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who says to you, ‘Give Me a drink,’ you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water.” He goes on to say in John 4:13-14, “Whoever drinks of this water will thirst again, but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life.” Place your faith in Jesus today and profess Him your savior; ask His forgiveness for your sins and that He come to live within your heart through His Holy Spirit to be your guide to life – life eternal in Christ.

Dear LORD,

We see these things to come in the world today as precursors to what is to come. We do not want to be scared by them but that we learn from Your Word and prepare for them by sincerely putting our faith in Jesus to save us from Your wrath which is coming on this earth. In Jesus name I pray, amen.
