Revelation 22:8-11

In Revelation 22:8 the Apostle John realizes that he is in the presence of a heavenly, holy being and falls down before him to worship him. But the angel who is speaking to John, “one of the seven angels who had the seven bowls filled with the seven last plagues (Revelation 21:9, NKJV), states, “See that you do not do that. For I am your fellow servant, and of your brethren the prophets, and of those who keep the words of this book. Worship God.”

In Revelation 22:10 the angel instructs John to not seal the words of the prophecy as the former prophets were instructed to do as in Daniel 12:4. This is because as the seals have now been opened, the trumpets have been sounded, the bowls have been poured out in God’s wrath on the earth, and the other happenings of the book of the Revelation of Jesus Christ have been implemented by God and The Lamb, the opportunity for repentance and change has passed; the time in Revelation 22:10-11is at the time to stand before the Lamb to declare the path that one has chosen, whether it be in Christ or in the ways of this world.

This is a command to worship God and God only.

This is a promise of a day in which repentance will be lost for all who have chosen to continually walk in the ways of this world.

Revelation 22:11 declares, “11He who is unjust, let him be unjust still; he who is filthy, let him be filthy still; he who is righteous, let him be righteous still; he who is holy, let him be holy still.” After teaching the parable of the wise and foolish virgins in Matthew 25:1-13, Jesus declares in Matthew 25:13, “Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man is coming.” If we are not prepared for the day in which God calls us to stand before Him, there will be no time left for repenting. Open your heart to Jesus today and receive the gift of life eternal – In Christ.

Dear LORD,

We worship You. You are the King of King and the Lord of Lords. We want to be prepared for the day in which You will return to call us all to stand before You and profess our obedience; whether it be to You or to the evil ways of this world. I pray dear LORD that it be to You – in Christ. In Jesus name I pray, amen.
