Revelation 22:20-21

The book of the Revelation of Christ Jesus is concerned with leading humanity to salvation in Christ Jesus. It tells of the judgment that will come to all who refuse to put God first in their lives, and of the glorious city, the New Jerusalem, in which will descend from heaven to be the home of every one who will receive the blessing of salvation in and through Christ Jesus. It is concerned with the moment in which Jesus will return and pass judgment on the earth. Revelation 22:20 (NKJV) declares, “20He who testifies to these things says, ‘Surely I am coming quickly.’

Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus!”

In Revelation 22:21 is a final plea for God’s grace to befall humanity as grace is to give a gift or forgiveness to someone who is undeserving.

This is a promise that Jesus is coming quickly.

This is a plea for God’s grace to cover the sins of humanity.

We all are unworthy to receive God’s grace because we all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23). Because of our sins, “the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 6:23).

The root of the teaching of the book of the Revelation of Jesus Christ is to lead us all to Him – to salvation, forgiveness, obedience, and eternal life in Christ Jesus. The Bible teaches us in Romans 10:9-13, “that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the Scripture says, ‘Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame.’  For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord over all is rich to all who call upon Him. For ‘whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved.’

Put your faith in Jesus today and make Him your Lord and Savior. He will never leave you nor forsake you (Joshua 1:5). Your eternal home will be a place in the New Jerusalem and you will find your name written in the Lamb’s Book of Life.

Dear LORD,

We all have sinned and are unworthy of Your righteousness, but it is through Your grace that we are saved, not of ourselves (Ephesians 2:8-10) but through the gift of Christ Jesus to all who will believe (John 1:10-13). Please save us from Your wrath and lead us through salvation in Christ Jesus to an eternal home in the New Jerusalem as we find our names written in the Lamb’s Book of Life. Please let it be so LORD. In Jesus name I pray, amen.
