Revelation 22:16
Jesus declares in Revelation 22:16 that He has sent His angel to give the testimony that we have been studying. Jesus declares that He is (NKJV) “the Root and Offspring of David.” In being the Root of King David, the king chosen by God to lead His chosen people Israel to be a Godly kingdom, Jesus is also the creator of King David who led the kingdom of Israel in the eyes of God and sought His ways for His people.
When God came into this world to save the world from sin (John 1:29; 3:16-21), He came in a humanly form, a descendent of King David (Matthew 1:1-17, Luke 3:23-38). Jesus is the creator of King David (John 1:1-5) and the Offspring of King David.
The Bright and Morning Star, as Jesus declares Himself in Revelation 22:16 is the Star that Israel has been awaiting for so many years because of the prophecy spoken by Balaam in Numbers 24:17.
This is the declaration of Jesus being the Creator and Offspring of the king of His people.
Jesus is making it official that He is the One in which Israel has been long awaiting. Jesus is the Savior of the world. Jesus is the Creator of all things. Jesus is King! The Bible teaches us in Luke 19:38 (NKJV) as Jesus rode into Jerusalem from the Mount of Olives on the colt of a donkey, His disciples rejoiced saying, “Blessed is the King who comes in the name of the LORD!”
Dear LORD,
Jesus is King. The Bible teaches us this truth from its beginning to its end. You have declared it to the nations and throughout all the lands. Please let it be so in all our hearts. Jesus is King! In Jesus name I pray, amen.
