Revelation 21:9-11
The determination of whose names will be written in the Lamb’s Book of Life and of those who will be thrown into the lake which burns with fire and brimstone has been revealed in Revelation 20:11-15, 21:6-8. The scene then changes as we learn in Revelation 21:9-11(NKJV), “9Then one of the seven angels who had the seven bowls filled with the seven last plagues came to me and talked with me, saying, “Come, I will show you the bride, the Lamb’s wife.” 10And he carried me away in the Spirit to a great and high mountain, and showed me the great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God, 11having the glory of God. Her light was like a most precious stone, like a jasper stone, clear as crystal.”
This is the revealing of the bride of the Lamb – the New Jerusalem.
As the New Jerusalem descends from heaven, this most beautiful of brides is arrayed in the glory of God the Father. Shining like a jasper (which was a generalization for a grouping of precious stones); in this case, most likely referring to a crystal-clear diamond. I suppose this scene would possibly be the most jaw-dropping, mesmerizing, most beautiful scene one could imagine; to see the glory of God descending from heaven in the New Jerusalem.
Dear LORD,
The beauty of this scene surpasses our imaginations with splendor of Your glory surrounding and emulating from the bride of the Lamb. Thank You for engulfing us in the wonder of Your great love. In Jesus name I pray, amen.
