Revelation 21:6

In Revelation 21:6 (NKJV) He who sat on the throne said, “It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. I will give of the fountain of the water of life freely to him who thirsts.” Two important things are declared in this passage: (1) He who sat on the throne is before all things and is the end of all things (Revelation 21:6a). He was before creation and He will remain after creation is destroyed (Revelation 20:11-15). (2) He who sat on the throne “will give of the fountain of the water of life freely to him who thirst” (Revelation 21:6b). Jesus said to the woman at the well in John 4:10, “If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who says to you, ‘Give Me a drink,’ you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water.” And He continues in John 4:13-14 in reply to the woman about the well in which she was about to draw water, “Whoever drinks of this water will thirst again, but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life.”

This is a promise of the “I AM” existence of God/Jesus/He who sat on the throne.

This is a promise of the source of the fountain of the water of life.

This is a promise that the water of life will be given freely to him who thirst.

In Exodus 3:14 God declares to Moses when asked what His name was, “I AM WHO I AM.” And He said, “Thus you shall say to the children of Israel, ‘I AM has sent me to you.’” And in John 8:58 Jesus declares, “Most assuredly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I AM.” Jesus then goes on the declare the I AM statements found in John 6:35 of being the bread of life; in John 8:12; 9:5 the light of the world; in John 10:7,9 the door; in John 10:11, 14 the good shepherd; in John 11:25, the resurrection and the life; in John 14:6 the way, the truth, and the life; and in John 15:1, 5 the true vine.

It is attaching ourselves to the true vine through the salvation the is provided for us in Christ Jesus that is the endless well to drink from for eternity – the fountain of living water.

Dear LORD,

You are the everlasting God of all strength and power. You alone are mighty. And yet You lowered Yourself to save us from sin so that we could spend eternity with You. Thank You LORD for loving us so much. In Jesus name I pray, amen.
