Revelation 21:25
In Revelation 21:25 we learn something that should be obvious to us from Revelation 21:23 but is easy to miss; there will be no night in the New Jerusalem. The light in the New Jerusalem comes from the illumination of the glory of God through Jesus. God/Jesus will dwell in the New Jerusalem and in so will provide light always from His glory that shines throughout all the city.
This is a promise of never-ending light in the New Jerusalem through the radiance of the glory of God/Jesus.
The most well-known Bible verse is John 3:16 (NKJV) declares, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” But few learn or memorize the following few verses which goes so well with today’s lesson. Jesus goes on to declare in John 3:17-21, “For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.
“He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed. But he who does the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be clearly seen, that they have been done in God.”
I love the way the NKJV words this passage as it states, “the light has come into the world” (John 3:19). Jesus did not simply come to this world, but He went into the depths of it to pay the penalty for our sins in His sinless death so that we all may live through Him. Also, in John 3:17 the wording is “might be saved.” This implies that salvation is not complete for all unless the “might” is fulfilled. This implies a choice, a free-will decision that must be made by each and every person individually as to believe in Jesus and the salvation that He provides for the world, for you, and for me, or not to believe. This is why Christians are referred to as believers. Do you believe? You can begin today by putting your faith in Jesus as your Savior and believing in your heart that He died to pay the price for your sins so that you too may live with Him in His glory and never-ending light in the New Jerusalem for eternity.
Dear LORD,
You are the light of the world and the everlasting light of salvation in the New Jerusalem for all who will put their faith in You. Please help us to believe; call us to You this day that we would have the everlasting light of Jesus dwelling in us forever. In Jesus name I pray, amen.
