Revelation 17:15-18
In Revelation 17:15-18 the angel speaking to John about the woman and the beast explains to John that the waters on which she sits (which we first learned about in Revelation 17:1) are many people from around the world. In Revelation 17:16 we learn that the ten horns/kings that are on the beast will turn against the harlot and will, “make her desolate and naked, eat her flesh and burn her with fire.” In Revelation 17:17 we learn that God is still in control as it was He that put it in the hearts of the ten kings to turn against the harlot. And in Revelation 17:18 is a reference to the harlot being the great city/Babylon as we have read in Revelation 14:8, “And another angel followed, saying, ‘Babylon is fallen, is fallen, that great city, because she has made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication.”
This is a promise that the great city Babylon/the woman on the beast/the sinful nature of the world will fall due to God’s own power and mighty authority.
The wickedness of this world will always come back to bite you – that is the way of the wicked/sinful nature and of the devil. What may seem glamorous, exciting, or rewarding will never last if it is sought after with evil intent such as is the ways of this world. Put your trust in Jesus and be set free from the sinful nature as you put your focus on Jesus – the Savior of the world.
Dear LORD,
Your Revelation tells us that many waters/peoples, multitudes, nations, and tongues will be forced to succumb to the wrath of the sinful nature. Please prompt us when the sinful nature is attacking us as it is hard for many people to not fall to the trickery of the devil. Please help us to be prompted that we can call on the name of Jesus to help us and make the devil flee. In Jesus name I pray, amen.
