Revelation 16:12-16

Revelation 16:12(NKJV) states, “12Then the sixth angel poured out his bowl on the great river Euphrates, and its water was dried up, so that the way of the kings from the east might be prepared.” God has parted the waters, or dried up the riverbed are two great events of the Old Testament. One; the exodus when God parted the Red Sea to allow His people Israel to escape from the Egyptian army (Exodus 14:21), and also when Joshua led Israel across the Jordan heading into the Promised Land (Joshua 3). The dried riverbeds have made highways for armies and nations to pass borders that were not normally passable. When the sixth angel pours out his bowl on the great river Euphrates, it will make a highway for the kings of the earth to gather for the great final battle of Armageddon (Revelation 16:16). In Revelation 16:13-14 the Apostle John declares, “13And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs coming out of the mouth of the dragon, out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet. 14For they are spirits of demons, performing signs, which go out to the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty.” It is these evil spirits that the devil will use to lead the evil kings of the earth together to battle against the Almighty God in the final battle of Armageddon (Revelation 16:16).

This is the pouring out of the sixth bowl of God’s wrath on the earth.

In Revelation 16:15 Jesus declares, “15 “Behold, I am coming as a thief. Blessed is he who watches, and keeps his garments, lest he walk naked and they see his shame.” This is a warning given to those who will repent and be respectful of the ways of the LORD through the trials and tribulations that will come during the period of the Revelation of Jesus Christ. It is a call to always be watchful for we do not know the day or time when the Lord will return. Jesus declared in Matthew 24:42-44, “Watch therefore, for you do not know what hour your Lord is coming. But know this, that if the master of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched and not allowed his house to be broken into. Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.”

Dear LORD,

We do not know the day or the hour of which You will return to take us home to heaven to live in Your glory for eternity. Please help us to remain faithful to You in a world that is always striving against You. You are our Savior and the Savior of the world for all who will put their trust and faith in You. Please lead us all to Jesus. In Jesus name I pray, amen.
