Revelation 14:13

Revelation 14:13 (NKJV) declares, “13Then I heard a voice from heaven saying to me, “Write: ‘Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on.’”

“Yes,” says the Spirit, “that they may rest from their labors, and their works follow them.” There has been a forced obedience to the beasts that have declared their opposition to God (Revelation 13), but there has also been a call to give glory to God in the midst of these trying times (Revelation 14:6-7). The voice from heaven in Revelation 14:13 is giving encouragement by a blessing to those who have remained/will remain faithful to God, whether it be to the death as a martyr or simply when the faithful one dies remaining faithful throughout the opposition that will come/has come on their life. Revelation 14:13b is declaring a time of rest in death for the faithful to God as their labors then transition to reaping a harvest; their work for the LORD is done.

This is a declaration for rest for those who remain faithful to the LORD through the trials and temptations of this world.

Jesus stated in Matthew 9:37, “The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.” We all have a calling from God that we should labor towards in fulfilling our duty as Christians and our obedience to God in our part of the Great Commission (Matthew 28:19-20; Mark 16:15; Luke 24:46-47; John 20:21; and Acts 1:8). As we work/labor towards the goal of our calling in the Lord, we are working toward a future rest in which we will enjoy the fruit of our labor.

Dear LORD,

Please help us all to realize and understand that You have given us all a gift – a calling to labor in love for saving us from sin and forgiving us so that we may share our story/calling with others and be an encouragement that will draw others to You as we follow Your will for our lives in keeping with the command of the Great Commission. Please strengthen us all to stand up for Christ Jesus. In Jesus name I pray, amen.
