Revelation 13:5-8

The beast, as described in Revelation 13:1-4 is described in Revelation 13:5-6 as being given a mouth to speak blasphemies against God and is stated in Revelation 13:6 (NKJV) as, “6Then he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme His name, His tabernacle, and those who dwell in heaven.” The Apostle Paul declares in 2 Thessalonians 2:1-4, “Now, brethren, concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our gathering together to Him, we ask you, not to be soon shaken in mind or troubled, either by spirit or by word or by letter, as if from us, as though the day of Christ had come. Let no one deceive you by any means; for that Day will not come unless the falling away comes first, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of perdition, who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God or that is worshiped, sot that he sits as God in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God.” Revelation 13:7-8 declares, “7It was granted to him to make war with the saints and to overcome them. And authority was given him over every tribe, tongue, and nation. 8All who dwell on the earth will worship him, whose names have not been written in the Book of Life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.” It is important that we understand that this power was “given” to him, meaning that a higher authority “allowed” this to take place. A second very important thing that we need to understand in this passage is found in Revelation 13:8 declaring, “8All who dwell on the earth will worship him, whose names have not been written in the Book of Life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.”

This is the promise of a beast that will be given power and authority to blaspheme and deceive.

This is a promise that all will worship the beast whose names have not been written in the Book of Life of the Lamb.

Salvation in Jesus Christ is the prerequisite to having your name written in the Book of Life of the Lamb. God sent His One and only Son to save the world from sin (John 3:16-17). The Apostle John declares in 1 John 5:11-12, “And this is the testimony: that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.” Do you have the Son? Do you have life? Jesus declares in John 14:6, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” Open your heart to Jesus today and ask of His forgiveness for your sins. He is faithful and will forgive all who come to Him with a sincere heart to make a new life in the salvation that He offers.

Dear LORD,

There are many deceivers and blasphemers in the world today trying to prove that You do not exist. But we know that You are real because we can feel You and see You working in our lives as we put our faith in You and seek Your will for our lives. Your blessings are greater than anything we could ever experience in this world. Please help us all to believe in our Savior and Lord Jesus and seek Your will for our lives – in Christ.  In Jesus name I pray, amen.
