Revelation 13:15-18
In Revelation 13:15 we learn that the second beast that came up out of the earth (Revelation 13:11) was able to give breath to the image of the first beast, that he ordered those who dwell on the earth to make, that was of the first beast that came up out of the sea (Revelation 13:1). This image of the first beast was made able to have everyone killed who would not worship him. In Revelation 13:16-18 (NKJV) the Bible teaches, “16He causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hand or on their foreheads, 17and that no one may buy or sell except one who has the mark or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.
“18Here is wisdom. Let him who has understanding calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man: His number is 666.”
This is an example of the satanic beasts and their capabilities after the sounding of the seventh trumpet from the opening of the seventh seal of the scroll taken by the Lamb from the right hand of Him who sits on the throne of heaven.
There are many interpretations of the number 666 and its significance, but no one has successfully defended their theory of it. In a more significant aspect of the number is the cause and effect of it as everyone who desires to deal in common daily activities such as buying food, clothing, and the sort must have this number. Those who refuse to take it will surely die being exiled from any business transactions. The number 7 is the biblical number of completion; possibly the number 666 is in reference to the defeat of impurity/incompleteness that the devil is bound to in not being able to complete his mission of overpowering God. The devil will always be lacking short of his goal as he has been defeated once for all (Romans 6:10-11).
Dear LORD,
We are striving to learn about the things to come as we study the Revelation of Jesus Christ. Some things have been pondered for centuries with no definite answer, but we know that in our striving to learn, that Jesus has defeated the devil once for all, and that our hope rests in Jesus to save us from such wrath as will be released in the end times. Please bring us all to salvation in Christ Jesus. In Jesus name I pray, amen.
