Revelation 12:6

The wilderness, as the Apostle John describes in Revelation 12:6, is not to be a reminder of a dry and desolate place, but of the refuge found in God during such times in our lives. God rained down bread from heaven/manna in Exodus 16 as He cared for His people Israel during the exodus from Egypt.

This is a promise of spiritual refuge in God.

We all walk through the wilderness at some time in our lives. God wants us to know that as we are experiencing these dry and desolate times in our lives, He is with us and will be our refuge as we put and keep our faith in Him. This reminds me of a bookmark entitled “Footprints” that was given to me as a young child that has a story by an unknown author about a person who had a dream about scenes from their life as they walked along the beach with the LORD. But the person became troubled as they noticed that during the most troubled times of their life there was only one set of footprints in the sand. This saddened the person, so they petitioned God as to why during the lowest times of their life when they needed Him most that they could see only one set of footprints in the sand as God had promised that He would never leave nor forsake them? God’s reply was that during these lowest times of the person’s life, when they could see only one set of footprints in the sand, was the time when God carried them. We too, sometimes can only see one set of footprints in our walk with God through our salvation in Christ Jesus; let it be known that it is then that God is carrying us too!

Dear LORD,

You promised Your chosen people Israel, as You promise us all today through the Prophet Moses in Deuteronomy 31:6 (NKJV), “Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for the LORD your God, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you.” This promise is solidified in Jesus as He declares in John 14:23, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him.” Please let it be so LORD. In Jesus name I pray, amen.
