Revelation 12:5

Psalm 2 tells us of a King that God will place on earth who will rule with a “rod of iron” (Psalm 2:9, NKJV). In Psalm 2:1-5 is described all the nations, kings, and rulers that will set themselves against the LORD. In Psalm 2:10-12 is a plea to serve the LORD with fear/respect and to rejoice in awe of His Almighty power lest when His wrath is released, His rod of iron befalls upon you. It is important to understand, as I believe it to be, that Jesus ruling with a rod of iron (Revelation 12:5) is not over those who are His own, but those who refuse to believe in Him as the One and only Son of God sent to save the world from sin (John 3:16-17). The LORD sends warning in Isaiah 45:22-24 declaring,

“Look to Me, and be saved,

All you ends of the earth!

For I am God, and there is no other.

I have sworn by Myself;

The word has gone out of My mouth in

righteousness,

And shall not return,

That to Me every knee shall bow,

Every tongue shall take an oath.

He shall say,

‘Surely in the LORD I have righteousness

and strength.

In the end, all will recognize the God of heaven as the One and only true God; those who accept Him and the salvation He offers through His One and only Son Jesus will rule with Him over those who refuse (Revelation 2:24-29); those who refuse to believe in Him will be “dashed to pieces” by the rod of iron (Psalm 2:9; Revelation 12:5). The child born by the woman (who represents the nation of Israel) is Jesus, and this reference to the child in Revelation 12:5 is of the ascension of Jesus (Acts 1:9-11).

This is a promise of the Child of God/Jesus who will rule all nations and all peoples in the end.

In Revelation 12:5 is a reference to “all nations.” This is in reference to everyone, everywhere around the world. This is also a confirmation to the words of the Apostle Paul in Romans 10:9-13 as he declares salvation in Jesus and quotes Isaiah 28:16 and Joel 2:32, “that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the Scripture says, ‘Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame.’  For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord over all is rich to all who call upon Him. For “whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved.’”

I must add a point today that as we have recently begun the Olympics in the year 2024, the opening ceremony portrayed drag queens as the Last Supper in place of Jesus and His disciples. The secular world is reaching out to attack Christianity. It is not us or our position to force Christianity upon them, but it is their desire to make a mockery out of God. It is our desire that God would touch their hearts, open their eyes to the Lord Jesus Christ that they would see their sinful ways as we have all fallen to sin, for the Bible teaches us that all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. But it is our prayer that God would touch these people and help them to understand that what they have done is an attack on God in his righteousness and His Almighty power of our creation that we hope and pray dear God that You will lead these people to salvation in Christ.

Dear LORD,

You and You alone are God; there is no other. Please let us realize and understand this important part of our salvation that we are all Your creation and we are all put here to proclaim our faith in You through our Savior Jesus. If we do, You will make us all rulers over all those who refuse You; if we refuse You, You will break us in the end with Your rod of iron. Please touch our hearts so that we will open them to proclaim You the One and only true God by believing in You and putting our faith in our Savior Jesus whom You sent to save us/the world from sin. In Jesus name I pray, amen.
