Revelation 12:1-2

In Revelation 12:1 we learn about a “great sign” that appeared in heaven. This sign was a woman being clothed with the sun and standing on the moon, while wearing twelve stars on her head. In Revelation 12:2 we learn that she was pregnant and cried out in labor pains. This woman is believed to be the nation of Israel shining like the sun as God’s chosen people to bring forth a Savior. The twelve stars may represent the twelve tribes of Israel, and the labor pains may represent the stiff-necked attitudes that they portrayed in their rebellion to be obedient to God as they wandered through the desert in the Exodus from the captivity of Egypt.

This is a sign of a Savior to come through God’s chosen people Israel.

In God’s great plan of salvation for the world, He had to bring Himself to the earth as a human being while yet continuing to maintain His deity. He did this through Jesus as Himself in the form of a human to be the sinless sacrifice that would satisfy His wrath against sin and the infection of it in humanity. But in God’s great plan of salvation was the necessity to show humanity that they/we are incapable of saving ourselves from sin. God did this by choosing a people out from all other races to be the example; that example is Israel. All the world was/is to see the blessings that God poured out on Israel only to be rejected over and over by them as the powers of the sinful nature are too much for humanity to overcome by humanity itself. This was necessary for the will of man to be broken so the realization and understanding of the need for a Savior could begin to lead humanity back to God in repentance. Israel, the example, was/is to be recognized by all other nations/people groups in their sins and in their repentance to bring all people to that repentant state and be reconciled back to God with a purely sincere heart to seek forgiveness from sin. This is the storyline of the whole Bible, along with the warnings of what will become of all who refuse to be reconciled to God.

Dear LORD,

The whole Bible is about those who put their faith in You, and of those who refuse to put their faith in You. You are our Creator and rightful Judge. Our soul purpose is to help defeat Satan by seeking Your will for our lives while living in the world of the devil. You have prepared this battle to take place on the home court of Satan so that he will have no viable excuse when his defeat is complete. You are the One and only true God. Praise be to You LORD for saving us from sin. In Jesus name I pray, amen.
