Revelation 11:7-10
The two witnesses introduced in Revelation 11will stop the rain, cause the water to turn to blood, and strike the earth with plagues at will, all in an attempt to get the inhabitants of the earth to wake up and see the way, the truth, and the life that is found only in Jesus Christ unto salvation. They will preach repentance/to turn from sin and to forgiveness through putting one’s faith in Jesus Christ. We learn in Revelation 11:7-10 (NKJV), “7When they finish their testimony, the beast that ascends out of the bottomless pit will make war against them, overcome them, and kill them. 8And their dead bodies will lie in the street of the great city which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified. 9Then those from the peoples, tribes, tongues, and nations will see their dead bodies three-and-a-half days, and not allow their dead bodies to be put into graves. 10And those who dwell on the earth will rejoice over them, make merry, and send gifts to one another, because these two prophets tormented those who dwell on the earth.”
The fallen star, Lucifer, has the key to the bottomless pit and he has opened it (Revelation 9:1-11). We learn that a beast will come out of this bottomless pit and kill the two prophets. The inhabitants of the earth will be so happy about this that they will celebrate while leaving the bodies of the two prophets in the street for three-and-a-half days (Revelation 11:9). The reference to the street of Sodom and Egypt is noted as a spiritual reference. This is to remind us of the spiritual depravity and immoral activity which caused the downfall of Sodom (Genesis 19) and of the persecution and slavery that Egypt had placed God’s people under (Exodus 1) as is the ways of the inhabitants of the earth during the events of Revelation 11. The celebration that these people will have (Revelation 11:10) is a mockery of the Feast of Purim (Esther 9) as the ways of the devil are an attempt to imitate a distorted view of the ways of God.
This is an example of the ways of the inhabitants of the earth being truly reflective of the devil.
Through the technologies of the world today – just as I can share this Bible study with the world with the click of a button, so someone else is sharing the evils of this world through the click of a button. It is very easy to find the evils of this world on the www, but you may have to do a search to find the word of God being shared on the same platform. The evils of this world are taking over the hearts of humanity in preparation for the events of Revelation to unfold. Where is your heart? Is it’s focus on submitting to following God’s will for your life, or on submitting to the ways of this world? The choice is yours and only yours to make. No one else can save you from sin, and you cannot save yourself from sin. God will speak to your heart with an honestly sincere offer of forgiveness if you will put your faith in Jesus Christ, the Savior of the world (John 3:16-17). He will save you from the evils of this world if you will simply and sincerely ask Him to do so – in Christ.
Dear LORD,
We are learning of how hateful the world will be at You when You release Your wrath on its inhabitants. We see how evil the world is through the technologies of today and we pray LORD that You will help us utilize the technologies of today to share Your Word in hopes of bringing revival and salvation through Jesus Christ – the Savior of the world! Please let it be so LORD. In Jesus name I pray, amen.
