Revelation 10:8-11

The mighty angel of Revelation 10 was noted as having a “little book open in his hand” (Revelation 10:2a). In Revelation 10:8-10 the Apostle John was instructed by a voice from heaven to take the little book from the angel and to eat it. Revelation 10:9-10 (NKJV) states, “9so I went to the angel and said to him, “Give me the little book.”

“And he said to me, “Take and eat it; and it will make your stomach bitter, but it will be as sweet as honey in your mouth.”

10Then I took the little book out of the angel’s hand and ate it, and it was as sweet as honey in my mouth. But when I had eaten it, my stomach became bitter.” In seeking God’s will for his life and to share the Gospel was as sweet as honey to taste, but those who would refuse to receive it made his stomach bitter. The angel then said to John, “You must prophesy again about many peoples, nations, tongues, and kings” (Revelation 10:11).

This is a promise and example of the Gospel of Jesus Christ being shared throughout the world.

This is a promise and example that the Gospel of Jesus Christ will not be accepted by everyone.

Jesus gave a command, The Great Commission, to His disciples during His earthly ministry, “thus it is written, and thus it was necessary for the Christ to suffer and to rise from the dead the third day, and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem” (Luke 24:46-47). Priests and preachers around the world continue to share the message of the Gospel, and many people continue to refuse to believe in Jesus, repent/turn from their sins, and receive forgiveness and the righteousness of Christ Jesus in their lives. Today is the day the LORD has made for you to open your heart to Jesus and profess Him your Savior.

Dear LORD,

You have called me to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the kingdom of heaven, and it is a sweet taste in my mouth, as honey, to have this privilege and honor. But it also is bitter in my stomach as I see those who continue to refuse to believe in Jesus and put their faith in Him as their Savior. Please let this message be the key that unlocks the door to their hearts and paves the way for Your Holy Spirit to fill the void in their hearts that only You can fill. In Jesus name I pray, amen.
