Philippians 2:17-18

The Apostle Paul compares himself to being a drink offering (Numbers 15) poured over the sacrifice and service of the faith of the Christians at the church in Philippi; as they present their lives to God, he is the aroma of their sacrifice and service as he is reflected through their new lives in the way of Christ Jesus. As Paul celebrates the sacrifice these people have made in their service to God, he invites them to celebrate with him.

This is an example of the joy and celebration we all should have together – In Christ.

We all carry the “aroma” of those who have led us to Christ Jesus, and we all are the “aroma” of those who we have led to Christ. I know that I am thankful for those who have taught me and given me guidance to grow in my relationship with Christ Jesus, and I am sure that you are thankful for those who have led you to Christ Jesus and have given you guidance to help you grow in your relationship with Christ Jesus. Jesus declared in John 15:11, “These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be full.”

Hopefully we are sharing the message of the gospel of Christ Jesus and the kingdom of heaven with others so that we can be for them the same guiding light that we have received from others – In Christ. As we do, we then create a bond in Christ Jesus that gives us hearts of joy and celebration for being the “aroma” of the sacrifice and service that we all share together – In Christ.

Dear LORD,

We all have been led to You through the service and sacrifice of others working together in Christ as we share the message of the gospel and work diligently to follow Your will for our lives. Please fill us all – together – with the joy of being Your children and the “aroma” of being led to You and of leading others to you through our lives – In Christ. In Jesus name I pray, amen.
