Philemon 12-16

In Philemon 12-16 the Apostle Paul informs Philemon that he is sending Onesimus back to him not as a slave being returned to his master, but as a fellow brother in Christ and minister of the gospel. Paul wants to set everything right with Philemon in the case of his runaway slave, but as a newly found brother in Christ Jesus, Paul pleads with Philemon to allow the freedom of Onesimus to be made official as this can only be completed by the authority of Philemon.

This is an example of pleading with our master for forgiveness.

As the Apostle Paul has led Onesimus to his master to ask forgiveness, we have been led to Christ Jesus to ask forgiveness for running away from Him. There is someone in all our lives that has been a guide in leading us to Jesus, but it is God through His Holy Spirit that has called our hearts to Him in sincerity. Jesus declared in John 6:44 (NKJV), “No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up at the last day.” Have you felt God calling you to Him? Maybe He is calling you today, right now. Open your heart to Jesus and experience true freedom – In Christ!

Dear LORD,

You have promised us freedom if we will put our trust in Jesus and believe in our hearts that You have raised Him from the dead in everlasting life. Please call all our hearts to You and give us the strength to say “YES” to Jesus. In Jesus name I pray, amen.
