Matthew 9:32-34

In Matthew 9:32-34 Jesus performs another healing miracle.  Throughout the events of Matthew 9, Jesus has brought back a girl from the dead (Matthew 9:18-26), and while on His way to do so, He healed a woman from a bleeding issue that had gone on for twelve years (Matthew 9:20-22).  He then heals two blind men (Matthew 9:27-31), and in Matthew 9:32-34 Jesus heals a demon-possessed man.  Why would all of these healings be recorded in the Bible?  What is it about these healings that is so important, that of all the miracles that Jesus performed, these would be saved for us to read about and to learn from?  It is faith.  The faith of the girl’s father in believing that Jesus could and would heal her.  The faith of the woman who believed that Jesus could and would heal her.  The faith of the two blind men who believed that Jesus could and would heal them.  And at last, a demon-possessed man was brought to Jesus who was mute.  No further announcement is needed; Jesus has healed from death, physical illness, and He has opened the eyes of the blind.  He now demonstrates the power that He came to utilize for the world in saving all from sin – He now demonstrates His power over evil.  Satan has taken the world by force, and Jesus is facing Satan head-on as He takes back one in which Satan has prevented from speaking.  He claims victory for all to see, so that one day, all may believe in Him.

This is an example of the healing power of Jesus to save all who will believe in Him from the evil works of the devil.

Jesus came to save the world from sin.  Jesus came to save the world from the grasp of the devil.  We can read about the healing miracles of Jesus all through the four Gospel accounts of the life and ministry of Jesus, and also throughout the letters written by the Apostles who witnessed these events as they teach the churches and people in which they wrote to and addressed personally.  But the key factor that makes it all change our lives is our faith in Him.  The Bible is said by some to be a great story book that may be captivating, but for the ones who believe that the Bible is truly the Word of God, the Bible is so much more than words or a story – it is a way of life, a way of life that changes the life of the one who believes that Jesus was truly a real person and divine at the same time, sent from God in heaven as Himself in human form so that He could heal the world and redeem us all back to a right standing with Him as He is love and love desires to be shared and felt within the heart.  Jesus is the love of God given for all who will believe in Him.  He is the Savior of the world!

Dear LORD,

Jesus came to save us from sin, death, and Satan.  He has shown us His power over sin, death, the physical, the mental, emotional, and the spiritual attacks that the devil throws at us each day throughout the world.   Jesus has proven Himself worthy, and He waits for us to open our hearts to Him and ask Him to come into our hearts and cleanse us from the sins of this world that we may be called children of God and be saved for eternity in heaven with You.  Please work through Your Holy Spirit to soften our hearts and open our eyes to the saving power of Jesus that we too would put our faith in You.  In Jesus name I pray, amen.
