Matthew 27:54

An amazing thing happens in Matthew 27:54: the Roman guards who were persecuting Jesus (Matthew 27:27-31) have witnessed the earthquake, rocks being split, and the veil of the temple being torn in two from top to bottom, they had a realization take place in their lives as they are recorded as professing in Matthew 27:54 (NKJV), “Truly this was the Son of God!”

This is an example of how the power of God can change a life in an instant through the work of His One and only Son Jesus.

One might ask, “How do I know if I have been saved?”  For a new Christian this is a very important question that we all have asked ourselves, and others.  But the truth is that Satan will try to convince you that you have not been saved, and he will strive to make you fall for the rest of your life.  But once you have honestly asked Jesus to forgive you for your sins – no matter what those sins are, and truly believe that He died for you – to pay for your sins, and then rose from the grave claiming victory over sin, death, and the devil, you are saved and you are now God’s redeemed child.  Your new life has now begun.  The change in your life has happened and all of heaven is rejoicing for you!

Dear LORD,

You have declared through Your servant Paul in Romans 10:9-10 (NIV), “If you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.  For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.”  You have also taught us in Luke 15:7 (ESV), “Just so, I tell you, there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who need no repentance.”  You sent Your One and only Son to die for us; it is so right that You and all of heaven would rejoice when one of us accepts the gift of forgiveness that You offer us in and through Christ Jesus.  Thank You LORD!  In Jesus name I pray, amen.
