Matthew 24:32-35

In Matthew 24:32-35 Jesus moves on from explaining to His disciples about what will happen to when these things will happen.  He uses the example of a fig tree sprouting leaves, and when that happens, to know that summer is near.  In the same fashion, these things that Jesus has been explaining to His disciples about the end of time will take place; and when they do, it is sure that His return is near.

This is a promise of things to come before Jesus returns.

The Roman stronghold on Christianity would soon after Jesus spoke these words take an evil stance to exterminate all those who follow the “Way.”  This would happen just as Jesus explains in Matthew 24:34 (NKJV), “34Assuredly, I say to you, this generation will by no means pass away till all these things take place.”

With the prophecy of Jesus being fulfilled about things to take place before His return, the door is open and the appointed time could be at any moment when Jesus comes back to take His followers to their eternal heavenly home, and to pronounce condemnation on all those who have refused to believe in Him.

Dear LORD,

As we seek and wait for Your return to take us home to our eternal heavenly home for all who believe in You and profess Jesus our risen Savior, we know that the prophecies concerning things that take place first have been fulfilled.  But we also know that You are loving and patient and do not desire to leave any behind.  Please help us to realize and understand the importance of the words the Apostle Peter speaks in 2 Peter 3:8-9 so that we would not wait any longer to open our hearts to the saving power found only in Christ Jesus as Peter states, “But, beloved, do not forget this one thing, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.  The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.  Please let it be so LORD.  In Jesus name I pray, amen.
