Matthew 18:12-14

In Matthew 18:12-14 Jesus tells the parable of the lost sheep and is putting this in comparison to the little children of God/all those who have opened their hearts to Christ Jesus and the salvation that He has come to provide Matthew 18:10-11.  Jesus states in John 10:11 (NKJV), “I am the good shepherd.  The good shepherd gives His life for the sheep.”  And in Matthew 18:14 Jesus teaches us, “Even so it is not the will of your Father who is in heaven that one of these little ones should perish.”  In keeping with the will of the Father who is in heaven, He sent His One and only Son to save that which was lost.  Jesus proclaims in Matthew 18:11, the verse leading up to the Bible passage that we are studying today, “For the Son of Man has come to save that which was lost.”

This is a promise that every lost sheep/child of God is important to Him.

We have all gone astray, like the lost sheep.  We are all in need of God to come to us and rescue us from ourselves, being caught in the web of the sinful nature, which is against the will of God.   Jesus wants you to know that you are so important to Him that He has left the flock that is safely with Him in heaven to come to you – to rescue you from the wages of sin which is death (Romans 6:23a) so that you may experience the gift of God which is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord (Romans 6:23b).  Jesus has come to rescue you!  Open your heart to Him today and receive the gift of life in Christ, and return to the flock—the ninety-nine, and He will rejoice more over you than the ninety-nine as He has left them safely in heaven to come and save you too!  Jesus loves you and has left the perfect world of heaven to come and guide you back home – in Christ!

Dear LORD,

We all were lost, and You are saving us back into the flock of Your little children one at a time.  You are Almighty God! You are our salvation!  You are the way, the truth, and the life as You have sent Your One and only Son to save that which was lost so that we may be reunited with You in heaven.  Thank You LORD for loving us so much!  In Jesus name I pray, amen.
