Matthew 15:29-31

The multitudes have been coming to Jesus to learn from Him and to be healed by Him.  But in this passage of Matthew 15:29-31 there is a sense of newly acquired revelation as the multitudes “marveled” at the healings that Jesus performed on those who came to Him.  It is believed that this crowd/multitudes that came to Jesus were in fact Gentiles, as the word of Jesus healing the Gentile woman’s daughter would have spread throughout the region and a new light in the eyes of the Gentiles would have been shining for them too, to be healed.  Just as Jesus has been healing those of the house of Israel, He has now made known that faith is the key, and the Gentiles have become aware that they too may be healed by Jesus.

This is an example of the healing power of Jesus for all who will have faith in Him – Jew and Gentile alike, as all are one in Christ Jesus (Galatians 3:28).

The Apostle Paul teaches us in Romans 3:21-26 (ESV), “But now the righteousness of God has been manifested apart from the law, although the Law and the Prophets bear witness to it – the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all who believe.  For there is no distinction: for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, whom God put forward as a propitiation by his blood, to be received by faith.  This was to show God’s righteousness, because in his divine forbearance he had passed over former sins.  It was to show his righteousness at the present time, so that he might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.”  Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life for all who will put their faith in Him (John 14:6).  Put your faith in Jesus today and receive healing that will last for eternity – in Christ!

Dear LORD,

We thank You today for showing us that Your healing power is for all who will believe in You and bring ourselves to You in humble submission and obedience, as did the Gentile woman that we learned about in Matthew 15:21-28.  We love You LORD, and we bring ourselves to You today and ask that You heal us too through our faith in Your One and only Son, Jesus.  In Jesus name I pray, amen.
