Matthew 13:37-43

Jesus explains the parable of the tares/weeds to His disciples in Matthew 13:37-43.  He declares (NKJV), “He who sows the good seed is the Son of Man.  The field is the world, the good seeds are the sons of the kingdom, but the tares are the sons of the wicked one.  The enemy who sowed them is the devil, the harvest is the end of the age, and the reapers are the angels.  Therefore as the tares are gathered and burned in the fire, so it will be at the end of this age.  The Son of Man will send out His angels, and they will gather out of His kingdom all things that offend, and those who practice lawlessness, and will cast them into the furnace of fire.  There will be wailing and gnashing of teeth.  Then the righteous will shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father.  He who has ears to hear, let him hear!”

This is a promise of the separation of the righteous and the wicked at the end of the age.

God is sowing seeds of love in each of us, but Satan is sowing seeds of wickedness in us as well.  It is our choice as to which seeds we will water and help to grow from within us.  Some may believe that the seeds of wickedness have been growing in our hearts for far too long to weed out now, but God sees you – He sees through the weeds that have overgrown your heart and entwined you in sin.  The good news is that He sent Jesus to be the gardener of your heart, but you have to invite Him in to clean your heart and make it pure once again.  No one wants to imagine a place where there will be “wailing and gnashing of teeth” (Matthew 13:42), but it does exist for all who refuse to open their hearts to the forgiveness that Jesus has provided for us.  But the righteous, yes, the righteous will “shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father” (Matthew 13:43).  Jesus ends this passage in Matthew 13:43 with the words, “He who has ears to hear, let him hear!”

We must hear the words of the Bible and learn to understand what God is teaching us through the parables and other teachings of Jesus before our hearts can be touched by them and cause us to sincerely and humbly in the presence of God to repent – to change the direction of our lives and from out of the sinful ways of this world and into a new life that fills our hearts with the righteousness of Christ Jesus.  God can; and He will change your life if your will open your heart to Him.  He will come in through His Holy Spirit and give you a new life in Christ Jesus as His child – a child of God (John 1:10-13).

Dear LORD,

We are learning of Your great plan of salvation for all humanity – for all who will put their faith in Jesus – that He came to save the world from sin (John 3:16-17), and to teach us the way in which we should live through the salvation that He has provided as He died on the cross for all the sins of everyone, and He lives eternal to You LORD as we too should seek our lives to be (Romans 6:10-11).  Please help us to open our ears so that we can hear You speaking to our hearts, so we can shine forth as the sun in Your kingdom.  In Jesus name I pray, amen.
