Matthew 12:33

This declaration made by Jesus in Matthew 12:33 is a continuance of the previous passage as He spoke of the unforgivable sin.  Jesus is clarifying, once again, His statement in Matthew 12:30 (NKJV)as He declares, “He who is not with Me is against Me, and he who does not gather with Me scatters abroad.”  As we have noted in our previous lesson, this is a promise that there is no middle ground in salvation; either you are with Jesus, or you are not.  Jesus teaches us in Matthew 12:33, “Either make the tree good and its fruit good, or else make the tree bad and its fruit bad; for a tree is known by its fruit.”

This is a promise that a person’s life is reflective of the one in which they are following – the one in which their faith is in, be it Jesus or Satan.

The good tree and the good fruit is reflective of following Jesus.  The bad tree and the bad fruit is reflective of the sinfulness of the world which is a reflection of Satan.  Whichever fruit a person produces in their life is noticeable in the reflection that they make; is it a reflection of Jesus, or a reflection of Satan?

Dear LORD,

We are learning of the reflection that our lives are: a reflection of Jesus through Your Holy Spirit living within us, or a reflection of Satan and the ways of this world.  Please give us understanding of Your Word so that we will make the right choice and be a reflection of Jesus to all those around us and throughout the world.  In Jesus name I pray, amen.
