Mark 9:19

In Mark 9:19 (NKJV) Jesus answers the man who has brought his possessed son to Him to be healed, but in His reply seems to address the multitude as He declares, “O faithless generation, how long shall I be with you? How long shall I bear with you?” Jesus has been healing those in need to show His divine power to the multitudes, yet they continue to have hardened hearts and minds. But in His compassion for them, Jesus says to the man, “Bring him to Me” (Mark 9:19c).

This is an example of the hardness of man to open their hearts, minds, and souls to Jesus.

This is an example of the compassion of Jesus to remain faithful in the face of human doubt.

Jesus has declared in Matthew 11:28, “come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” Jesus is our place of refuge in this world; He is our healer and comforter; He is our place of strength and power. So what is the key to receiving these things from Jesus? We must open our hearts to Him and truly believe in Him. We must put our faith in Him. The Bible teaches us in many places that salvation in Christ Jesus is for everyone who will believe in Him. Satan will strive to prevent you from believing in Jesus, but Jesus will set you free from the control of Satan and give you a new life. Believe in Jesus today and be saved from the wiles of the world and of the devil.

Dear LORD,

We learn in Mark 9:19 that Jesus has shown us of His power to heal and of His great love for us that through it all, He remains willing to accept everyone who will come to Him. Please help us to believe in the power of Jesus to heal us and to save us from sin. In Jesus name I pray, amen.
