Mark 6:30-32

The disciples of Jesus have returned to Him from preaching that people should repent, casting out demons, and anointing and healing many who were sick (Mark 6:12-13).  They told Jesus about all that they had done, and Jesus instructed them to get some rest as the Bible teaches us in Mark 6:31b-32 (NKJV), “For there were many coming and going, and they did not even have time to eat.  So they departed to a deserted place in the boat by themselves.

This is an example of the work that the disciples of Jesus accomplished through following Him.

We too are the disciples of Jesus if we put our faith in Him and follow His leading through His Holy Spirit that lives within us.  God gives us through our individual gifts the power to be healing to others and lead them to Christ through our example.  Jesus declares in John 15:5-8, “I am the vine, you are the branches.  He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.  If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered; and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned.  If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you.  By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples.”

Dear LORD,

Please help us to see that we too, through Your gifts and power to us, are Your disciples today to spread the gospel and the healing power of Your working in our lives through our example as Your children.  Please let it be so LORD.  In Jesus name I pray, amen.
