Mark 3:28-30

In John 14:15-18 (NKJV) Jesus declares, “If you love Me, keep My commandments.  And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever—the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you.  I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you.”  Jesus continues in John 14:23-24, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him.  He who does not love Me does not keep My words; and the word which you hear is not Mine but the Father’s who sent Me.”  And in John 3:16-17 the Bible teaches us, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.  For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.”  These three passages, to name a few of the main ones, help us realize and understand the meaning of what Jesus is speaking about in Mark 3:28-30 as Jesus declares, “Assuredly, I say to you, all sins will be forgiven the sons of men, and whatever blasphemies they may utter; but he who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit never has forgiveness, but is subject to eternal condemnation” – because they said, “He has an unclean spirit.”

This is the unforgivable sin – to refuse God’s Holy Spirit a place in your heart.

He who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit is the one who refuses to believe in Jesus; the one who never opens his/her heart to receive the forgiveness that God sent His only begotten Son to offer us.  We cannot save ourselves from sin, but God loves us all so much that He came to conquer sin for us; all we have to do is believe it, profess it, and live it – in Christ.

Dear LORD,

Please help us to realize and understand that to refuse Your Holy Spirit/blaspheme the Holy Spirit of God is to refuse to believe in Jesus, our Savior and the Savior of the world as the only way to receive Your Holy Spirit to live within us as our seal of salvation is by believing in Jesus, that You have raised Him from the dead in victory over sin, death, and Satan for all who will believe in Him, and by professing Him our Savior.  You teach us through the Apostle Paul in Romans 10:9-10, “that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.  For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”  Please let it be so LORD in all our lives – in Christ!  In Jesus name I pray, amen.
