Mark 15:40-41

We learn a lot about the disciples/men who followed Jesus and were called according to God’s will for their lives. But the Bible teaches us that, in a world and time when the men were the primary member of the household/family, there were many women who were also called according to God’s will for their lives. In Mark 15:40-41 we learn that women were present at the crucifixion of Jesus. These women ministered to Jesus throughout His earthly ministry (Mark 15:41).

This is a promise that women, as well as men, are called according to God’s will for their lives.

Women continue to be called to service according to God’s will for their lives, just as do the men. In Christ Jesus we are all one; there is no separation between men and women for what God may call one to accomplish for His will and glory. The Apostle Paul declares in Galatians 3:26 (NKJV), “For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus.” But he also goes on to declare in Galatians 3:27-29, “For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus. And if you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.” Let us all strive to be one in Christ Jesus as we put and keep our faith in Him.

Dear LORD,

There was a time when women were not recognized as playing an important role in Your calling on our lives. The Bible teaches us that it was the women who played very important roles in the life and ministry of Jesus our Savior. We will soon learn that it was women who would first be informed of the resurrection of Jesus and that they should spread the word so that all would know of our risen Savior. Thank You LORD for these vital women called according to Your will for their lives – in Christ.  In Jesus name I pray, amen.
